Well said! "An AWS outage at this point is like an act of God." Yeah...It's like... a hurricane. When your code is in the cloud, it will be subject to thunderstorms.

Good analogy, I like it

- wished I had thought of that over the past few years when trying to explain outages to very senior leadership. Thunderstorms & clouds.

You might feel differently if your ambulance failed to arrive. Some systems need multiple redundant layers, but accountancy rules that diversity “inefficient.”

Yeah.... Very true.

This statement - I LOVE THIS STATEMENT:

--- "when everybody’s down, nobody is down" (even though 'everyone' is out of commission)

Pleassseeee....

It so true but this statement, this one is EVEN MORE VALID:

--- "xxxx has become too big for you to avoid failing."

---- use any super large entity for the x's.
