Great writeup about the Google(-as-an-employer) effect. I was fascinated that ex-googlers gave themselves a collective noun.. do ex-Meta or ex-Apple employees do the same thing?

On a more practical note, I think the cloud is (dead) boring is a good thing for businesses, because I feel for teams that don't have the resources/time to learn all the new things and renamed things. It gives people a chance to breathe and maybe realise that certain rushed decisions weren't a good idea, and course-correct. But I'm also worried that public CSPs themselves don't think they're boring yet, and will continue to push out more randomly named products/services that could probably have been features in another service - the thought of that exhausts me.

Anyway, good food for thought, good length, and I like the verdicts.

thanks Forest. In Inda, in Hyderabad people still see Google as one of the best places to work and if you don't work there you are just mediocre(as me) and one of our lawyers wife works at google but binges on kdrama the whole day apparently and has no work and is still getting paid and the lady works from home ..So luck plays a major role

what should i study next ...i am just out of a aws project.,i am confused what should i study next for togaf certification or Professional Cloud architect for google

Great post as always Forrest. Loved your analogy of the freeway:

> half the traffic is driving on the wrong side of the road, there are people pedaling along the shoulder on unicycles, occasionally some of the cars just disappear for no reason

*chef's kiss* absolute masterpiece. Even as an outsider with a limited view of the inside, I can totally relate as I also draw parallels to other prior workplaces.
